VLF high-voltage generators and ordinary high-voltage generators are devices used to generate high voltage, they have significant differences in frequency, application scenarios, and their impact on the measured object.

VLF high-voltage generator: The frequency is extremely low, usually around 0.1Hz, close to DC. This low-frequency characteristic makes the distribution of electric field inside the insulation material more uniform, making it easier to excite insulation defects.

Ordinary high-voltage generator: with a high frequency, usually 50Hz or 60Hz, or higher. This high-frequency characteristic results in uneven distribution of the electric field inside the insulation material, making it less sensitive to certain types of insulation defects.

VLF high voltage generator: mainly used for insulation withstand voltage testing of large capacity power equipment, such as power cables, large motors, transformers, etc. Due to its low-frequency characteristics, it can more accurately reflect the insulation condition of the tested object, especially suitable for detecting defects such as air gaps and impurities in insulation materials.

Ordinary high voltage generator: It has a wide range of applications and can be used for insulation withstand voltage tests as well as other high voltage tests, such as corona tests, partial discharge tests, etc.

VLF high-voltage generator: Due to its extremely low frequency, the electric field has a strong penetration force inside the insulation material, which can more effectively excite insulation defects and improve the sensitivity of detection. At the same time, due to the low frequency, the thermal effect generated is also small, and the impact on the measured object is relatively small.

Ordinary high-voltage generator: Due to its high frequency, the distribution of electric field inside the insulation material is uneven, which easily generates local overvoltage and has low sensitivity for detecting certain types of insulation defects. In addition, high-frequency electric fields can generate significant thermal effects, which may cause certain damage to the measured object.

VLF high-voltage generators are more suitable for testing power equipment with extremely high insulation performance requirements, while ordinary high-voltage generators are suitable for a wider range of application scenarios.
